Brian Akino to Lead PatientLock’s Offensive Security Team

Overland Park, KS, Aug. 22, 2024 – PatientLock, headquartered in Overland Park, KS, announced that Brian Akino will lead its Offensive Security team. PatientLock, the brainchild of former EMR-industry executives and enterprise-grade cybersecurity talent, offers a broad range of cybersecurity technologies and advisory services to healthcare organizations (DBA JurisLock for law firms).

Akino will lead PatientLock’s Offensive Security team in its delivery of vulnerability assessments and penetration testing (VAPT) for various client environments, including conventional and cloud infrastructures.

A leader in the newly established Cyber Warfare Operations Squadron of the U.S. Air Force, Akino is a cybersecurity expert with over 15 years of experience in all domains of information security. Following six years as an active military member of the USAF, Akino continues to serve as a Cyberwarfare Operator in the Virginia Air National Guard and holds numerous cybersecurity and IT certifications, including CISSP, Security+, GCFA, CCNP, CCDP, and ITILv3, as well as high-level government security clearances and public trusts.

Since transitioning to the private sector, Akino has built and managed the cybersecurity program for a well-known Fortune 5 company, spent the better part of a decade driving cybersecurity initiatives for Cigna Corporation, and founded Absolute Cyber Defense, a specialty information security company focused on penetration testing, application assessments, CTF/Sales Labs, and IT regulatory compliance.

Akino graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Technology Management.
